Hi, should be indicate that we want to plan in a meeting during the community meeting? It might be useful to set some goals together with other community members for the next year to focus on as discussed during the last meeting. (see: https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/Xvj1P2ltJWY)
I like the idea but personally, I'll probably be running the meeting for containerization instead.
@Vaida Plankytė , are you going and do you want to pick it up? I'm also willing to do so if you don't wanna do it or we can do so together if you prefer.
I guess and idea for the session would be to give a brief overview of what we've done in the last year and then provide some ideas on what to move forward with and ask for other working points in regards to documentation and end with a prioritization of what should be tackled first. So, I don't think it'll take too much preparation
Hello! This year, I plan to run the meeting. I'll get with Phil later this week and get some KT on what alls been done and how we managed the meetings previously.
@Dieuwertje Bloemen i am going! you're right, there's probably not a lot of prep needed-- as you say, just a summary of existing work and things we've been discussing doing next, then a discussion/prioritisation exercise! you've been more involved with the Zulip activity so would be good to either do it jointly or for you to lead! We can perhaps decide closer to the time and once we get more info on how the meetings are being organised :sunglasses:
In Slack, Jim said they'd like to know this week.
I'll let them know but indicate it's not set in stone yet who will lead it, but I'll follow up for now then
I just replied that I'll be at the container meeting so I won't be available. I hope they record them!
Otherwise we'll try to take good notes :note:
Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this year ;(
Sadly I won't be able to attend in-person in the end up :pensive: very sad to miss y'all! I'll still make my presentation remotely if that's possible. Not sure if the WG meetings will be open to online attendance-- no worries if not! I'll catch up afterwards
Bummer that neither one of you can make it!
Next time!
After today's meeting, as discussed here's an overview of the working group's work to provide during the DCM25 meeting (I just went through zulip for it and tried to remember as best as I could). If there's anything missing, let me know:
Work done:
- Rework of contributor guide
- Restructuring documentation
o Previous/next button
o A documentation homepage
o Get rid of confusing header menu items
o Add navbar
- Lower the degree of nesting in the table of contents
- Add “Edit on GitHub” button on GDCC website
- Broken links: some have been fixed, still need for some automated check
Discussed;
- A “how to extend” section on exporters, add-ons, tools, scripts, recipes etc.
- Ask dataverse & what it can do for documentation users
- Brainstorm a quick-start guide for uploading data and other quick start guides
o Input needed on prioritisation
o How to allow for review-flow or not
- Brainstorm a new Dataverse.org website (new updated look and feel to make it clearer what dataverse is and who which page is for)
o Run into issues of capacity and need for web designer/developer view/input
instead of rework I would call it creation of the contributor guide
This is a great list. Could we maybe paste it into a Google doc and iterate on it there?
Is there a dedicated google folder? I can't see anything about a folder on: https://www.gdcc.io/working-groups/documentation.html
Yep: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iLUtHsRw4NYUQoKenpGF6oYb-s23plL6?usp=drive_link
Do you have access? If not, please request it and I'll approve it.

that's a great list! sorry i've not been as engaged the last little while. a lot going on! looking forward to joining the session at the community meeting!
I just asked people to add themselves under "attendees (tentative)" for next week's hybrid meeting at UNC: https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/ZEEBtC9Ylx8/m/f606rf-rAQAJ
@Omer M Fahim , I've listed up all the items in a powerpoint in the google drive folder with some screenshots to help us start the meeting tomorrow. Then we have something to help guide us if there are many new people there.
@Dieuwertje Bloemen Looks great! Thank you!
Please note that the community zoom meeting link has been updated: Where:

Was the meeting recorded?
Yup, still waiting for the link from Luna or Heath. They had host on the meeting
Gotcha. @Heath Sledge any chance we can get a link to the recording of the Documentation Working Group meeting on June 10th?

We only recorded the keynotes, unfortunately!
All the zoom links were through Cvent and it doesn't store things recorded through the Zoom interface unless the box was checked in Cvent beforehand, as far as we can tell
The keynotes were recorded by Luna with the videocamera that was used to stream the visuals
Sorry!
Ok, bummer. Thanks.
