Hey everyone. Just passing along more info about the satellite meetings during this year's Dataverse Community Meeting that Dataverse working groups can use for meeting.
Working group leads interested in meeting in-person and online on May 12 can use the DCM2026 registration form to request a meeting for the working group.
On the registration form, WG leads will need to include a list of in-person attendees, who won't be let in if they haven't registered and aren't on the list, and are responsible for letting group members know about the May 12 meeting and for any marketing for new members.
Hi there .. just wondering if there will be a large data working group meeting at DCM2026?
Hi @Deirdre Kirmis a working group would be great! I have not had any time to organize it, however, and Sonia will not be at the conference this year.
Would you or someone else be willing to get things set up with the DCM organizers? I could really use the help! :)
Sure, I'll look into what is needed to get that set up. Thanks!
@Julian Gautier would I just edit my registration (already submitted) and add a satellite proposal for the Large Data WG? And, likely need to ask who will attend first? Or is it too late? Thanks.
Hey @Deirdre Kirmis. I know it's not too late, but not sure off hand what the process is for adding a satellite proposal after you've already registered. I remember chatting about this with Felipe in another Zulip channel. Be right back!
Ah, the conversation I was thinking of is at . I was wrong, we didn't talk about how to add a satellite proposal after you've registered.
Do you see a way to edit your registration? Or you think someone would have to do it for you?
Or can someone else who hasn't but plans to register add the satellite proposal for the Large Data WG when they register?
I can edit my proposal .. I'll see if that works! Thanks!
Hi @Deirdre Kirmis ,
I'm not part of the working group, but I'd be interested in joining the satellite meeting and learn more about how different repositories support large data. Not so much from a technical perspective, but discussing best practices. We're currently looking into policies and procedures for publishing metadata-only in Dataverse with linking to large files deposited and archived elsewhere.
(I have already registered for the DCM main program.)
Great! I'll add you to the list!
@Deirdre Kirmis please add me as well. I'm hoping the working group meetings are not concurrent!
yea I was wondering about that?
Hi @Deirdre Kirmis, if it's not too late, can I be added to the list for the large data meeting as well?
Not too late! I will add you! I'm giving it a week or so to get responses before I submit the proposal/name list. Thanks!
Thanks so much @Deirdre Kirmis I will be there, too :) Happy to provide some of our updates at the meeting.
@Ceilyn Boyd Yes, perfect ! I will add updates from Harvard in as the first thing! Thanks!
So just letting everyone know the proposal for the satellite meeting for the Large Data Support working group meeting at DCM2026 was submitted with the initial list of names (11) for those who responded. I think I can still update the list (maybe) until the end of April if I missed anyone.
Hello - could you please add me to the list? I'd like to participate in this group at the DCM2026 if possible. Do you have a sense of what time this group will meet that day? Thanks!
I will add you to the list. We just got the tentative times and it looks like the Large Data group will meet from 9:30am-10:30am. That could change.
It (tentatively) conflicts with the Containerization and pyDataverse working group meetings, unfortunately.
yea, i saw that  .. I submitted my list as is .. i'm not sure who will be going there instead
I wish I could go to everything!
Me too .. I actually would like to attend the containerization group (although I just listen).
I just noticed the sign-up list for the documentation working group. Can I add a similar doc to the Large Data Support working group page?
oh i see i need to add a PR
@Deirdre Kirmis yes, please feel free to make a PR! Hopefully the "edit on GitHub" link at https://www.gdcc.io/working-groups/large-data-support.html works for you.
yes i submitted a PR .. I copied your format from the doc WG
I will send out an updated email to the google group to see if anyone else wants to add their name (or remove it)
https://github.com/gdcc/www.gdcc.io/pull/69 merged!
Thanks! :tada:
Turns out that my flight to Barcelona is a red-eye arriving at 8:30 am on May 12. So, unfortunately, I'll arrive late to the large data session. But looking forward to seeing you all nonetheless!
Looking forward to seeing you when you get there! Hope the flight goes well! Would you still be willing to share a Harvard update when you get there?
Once we are in the space, can we attend different things?
Ha, I would think so. But don't go watching multiple movies if you only pay for one ticket! :movie_camera:
Hi folks, I'd be interested in joining the satellite meeting if it's still possible. I won't be in Barcelona, so I'll be remote on Zoom.
Thanks!
hi Courtney! I added your name in the attendee list just now .. I'm not sure how the zoom option will work but hopefully it will be an option.
If possible I would also like to sign up for the large -data working group meeting. Thanks! - Ben
I added you to the list @Ben Lewis
Thank you Deirdre!
