Hello! Might someone be willing to either merge the fix I’ve proposed or make their own fix to update the Dataverse Uploader so it runs given that GitHub Actions now require a newer version of Node? It’s just changes to two lines of code, and we’d love to get our users set up with the official IQSS copy rather than my forked version!

/me looks at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-uploader/pull/19

@Gavi Levy Haskell looks like a good fix. Merged! Thanks!

But! Do you need a release? Currently, we are at v1.4 from early 2023: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-uploader/releases

Ooh, good call, I think probably so! Thank you so much for the correction and the merge, Philip; and thanks Juan for letting me know I should send here!

Ok, thanks. The uploader was created by @Ana Trisovic. She doesn't work here any more but maybe I can ask her how to make a release.

I asked her in this issue: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-uploader/issues/20

Whoops! Sorry to create more work for you; thank you so much for following up with Ana!!

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin 🚀 (Jul 18 2024 at 21:16):

Ha, no worries. It was under her GitHub account originally but before she left she put it under gdcc so we could maintain it.

Hi Philip! I realized, on rereading, that this might be a matter of knowing how to make a new release, rather than having the GitHub permissions to do so—if it's the former, would you like me to walk you through the process based on what I see of Ana's previous release? (I reached out to her, and she did say she could also make the release herself if need be!)

@Gavi Levy Haskell sure, I'd be happy for a walk through. When is a good time for you?

view this post on Zulip Gavi Levy Haskell (Jul 22 2024 at 17:58):

Amazing! I'm free until 5pm EST today, between 1pm and 5pm EST tomorrow, or between 9am and noon EST Thursday or Friday this week, if any of those might work for you?

Is now ok? No time like the present. :grinning:

Thank you so much again; I'm thrilled to be able to get our researchers set up with the Dataverse Uploader for their research code!

Me too! Thanks for the time today.

I did go ahead and create an issue to document the release process: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-uploader/issues/21

Amazing, and apologies for not catching the readme update part ahead of time!

view this post on Zulip Gavi Levy Haskell (Jul 22 2024 at 18:23):

Although it occurs to me (belatedly) that people are probably going to mostly use the release without ever downloading it, so it may be safe to update the README without releasing another version!

Meh, I agree but I went ahead. :grinning:

v1.6 is out and https://github.com/marketplace/actions/dataverse-uploader-action looks good. It has the latest release showing, I mean.
