Dear all,
I have a question about the variable information that gets extracted from the files when the Tabular File Ingest is enabled. A colleague of mine has been testing with these kind of files, and found the following.
If a restricted Excel file, with variable information is uploaded, these variables are saved in the file metadata.
When you search for this variable, it pops up in the search result. We think this should not be happening, because access to the file is restricted. Is this assumption correct?
Or is it intended behaviour, because metadata is always searchable?
My colleague also found out that in the DDI-export, variables for restricted files are not in the export. This is what we would expect. However, in the Croissant export, these variables are present. Should I report this a a bug?
@Laura Huis in 't Veld yes, two bugs, please!
Alright, here they are:
Variable metadata for restricted files visible in search results: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/11751
Variable metadata for restricted files in Croissant export:
https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/11752
I was able to reproduce the problem on demo.dataverse.org as well. We are at version 6.5.
Thanks! The issues look great. ![]()
