Topic: Text files with dashes issue

Hey there .. just a quick question .. does anyone know of an issue with text files that have multiple dashes in them not uploading? ie: we have readme files with titles that look like this ..

'-------------------'
GENERAL INFORMATION
'-------------------'

(added apostrophe to keep it from autoformatting)

.. when we upload it just spins and never uploads .. unless we change the dashes to asterisks, or just have one dash ..

I did see that there is an issue with solr where it interprets long rows of dashes in text files as "immense terms" and will not be able to process them but I don't see any such errors in the solr logs ..

and this doesn't seem to happen on our QA server that was upgraded to v6.7.1 .. maybe something was fixed? I did look for issues related ..

I tried to reproduce the issue on our 6.7.1 build but wasn't able to.

I looked a bit but couldn't find any related issues - @Philip Durbin ๐Ÿš€ might know

@Deirdre Kirmis can you reproduce it on https://demo.dataverse.org ?

no they upload fine there, but that is v6.7.1 .. it works for us on that version .. it is just previous versions .. we are on v6.6 currently

we will be upgrading eventually but just have a user now that needs to publish .. we can remove the dashes but just want to make sure the issue is not something wrong with our site

I mean, at least you have a workaround.

Do you have that Javascript-y "folder upload" enabled?

What if you upload via API?
