Hello,
We had file level datacite PIDs enabled but don't really want that going forward. If I turn off that setting (:FilePIDsEnabled), will the files with PIDs still show them? They might as well because they exist, but we don't want to mint anymore.
Thanks,
Bethany
Also, do I need to restart Payara for that change to take effect?
Yes, the file-level PIDs will still show and still resolve.
I'm not sure if you need to restart Payara or not but I would, just to be safe.
As you may know, you can turn on file PIDs per collection if you like.
Oh, no, I didn't know that. Or maybe I read it in passing, but didn't fully absorb it. Thanks, Phil!
Sure, this might be a good starting point for reading up on it: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/6.6/installation/config.html#allowenablingfilepidspercollection
Or https://guides.dataverse.org/en/5.14/installation/config.html#allowenablingfilepidspercollection since you seem to be running 5.14. You're in luck, 5.14 is when it was added, in #9721.
Thank you - I remember reading something about this and I think it was in the 5.14 release notes that I read recently.
Once file pid doi generate is disabled, should the dataset level doi show up for the file citation? Or do we have to do something to enable that?
Hmm, can you please link me to an example file landing page?
Here's one in Harvard -- I don't have files w/o DOIs in Yale's system (yet). Mostly I'm asking if it's the default behavior to show the Dataset DOI in the File Citation or if I have to tweak anything to get that (assuming File Level DOIs are disabled).
https://dataverse.harvard.edu/file.xhtml?fileId=11694613&version=1.0
I think the answer is that I don't need to do anything and the dataset DOI will show up in the file citation (if the file doesn't have it's own), but just confirming. Thanks!
Sounds right!
Obviously, if it doesn't behave the way you expect, please let us know.
Will do. Thanks, Phil!
