Topic: Alternative URL field behavior - by design or bug?

Hi all,

We're upgrading to Dataverse 6.8 and noticed something with the Alternative URL field in the Citation metadata block.

When a dataset has an Alternative URL populated (e.g., https://example.com), the field displays on the dataset landing page but clicking it appears to redirect back to the dataset itself rather than navigating to the external URL.

Questions:

1. Does anyone else experience this behavior?
2. Is this by design or a known bug?
3. Is there a configuration setting we might be missing?

We've verified:

• URLs are stored correctly in the database with full https:// prefix
• Field is properly defined as type "URL"
• Same behavior appears in both 6.5 and 6.8

The data is there and accessible via API, just wondering if the UI link behavior is expected or if we should report it as a bug.
