Over at https://github.com/gdcc/dataversecommunity.global/pull/1 we're trying to figure out which working groups are active.

For active groups, we're linking to a website or whatever. Should we mark pyDataverse as active? If so, what should we link to? https://github.com/gdcc/pyDataverse ? https://dataverse.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/377090-python ? Something else, like a dedicated page or a Google doc?

view this post on Zulip Jan Range (Dec 13 2023 at 09:24):

For now, I would suggest using https://github.com/gdcc/pyDataverse since progress can be tracked in the repo through PRs and Issues. However, I am willing to set up a website :raised_hands:

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin πŸš€ (Dec 13 2023 at 12:25):

Sounds fine but maybe the README should be updated.

I'm anticipating questions like "where is the WebEx link?" or "what time is the next meeting."

view this post on Zulip Jan Range (Dec 13 2023 at 12:52):

Sounds good :+1:

view this post on Zulip Jan Range (Dec 13 2023 at 12:56):

Are you fine with starting 10th of January 15.00 UTC (10 AM Boston, 4 PM Germany)?

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin πŸš€ (Dec 13 2023 at 13:37):

Hmm, my daughter's class is taking a trip to Boston's Chinatown and I'm thinking about chaperoning on the 10th. (I haven't signed up yet.)

view this post on Zulip Jan Range (Dec 13 2023 at 13:52):

Alright, we can also move to 17th

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin πŸš€ (Dec 13 2023 at 13:53):

The 17th is free for me.

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin πŸš€ (Dec 13 2023 at 13:53):

We can also put the meeting on the community calendar. I just left a comment about this.

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin πŸš€ (Dec 13 2023 at 13:58):

Actually, if you don't mind adding the meeting yourself, I can give you access. You'd just need to tell me which Google account to add.

view this post on Zulip Jan Range (Dec 13 2023 at 13:58):

Would you prefer bi-weekly or weekly?

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin πŸš€ (Dec 13 2023 at 13:59):

I'm leaning toward bi-weekly.

I'd like to send out an email to the google group suggesting that people can start signing up to attend the in-person/hybrid working group meetings. For each group, I'd like a doc to link to where they can add their name.

Yes! We had to make me an admin tho lol. The feedback that provided I think was useful but very little, things that basically can cause a memory leak or things like that but it would not take into consideration the business logic if that makes sense.

view this post on Zulip Philip Durbin πŸš€ (Jun 24 2025 at 15:45):

Also, I agree that the refactoring should be done first, before trying to merge EasyDatavere into pyDataverse, for example. I think we have a topic on this: #python > PyDataverse Re-Vamp (unless it was for a previous re-vamp  )
