With all the activity from @Sebastian Höffner recently I've been feeling guilty that he has been diligently filling out the GitHub issue and PR templates that haven't been updated since the (somewhat recent) changing of the guard.

I feel the templates are a bit long and burdensome. What do others think?

I agree, we should change these. Looking through them, I feel that they definitely make sense, but there may be a way to reduce it to the essentials. What is your impression @Sebastian Höffner ?

I'm curious what @Dimitri Szabo thinks as well. He's been opening issues today AND he has helped us improve the GitHub templates we use for Dataverse itself.

It is a bit long indeed and I think some of the info is repetitive like the version used (for bugs I think). Maybe some additional information can be kept and pushed back as an optional section.

@Dimitri Szabo do you feel like making a pull request suggesting a shorter issue template?

@Dimitri Szabo if your ears were burning yesterday it might have been because @Jan Range @Sebastian Höffner and I were still hoping that you might have some suggestions for the templates we use for pyDataverse issues and PRs!

You're very welcome to watch the recording. Based on the agenda the discussion was somewhere in the middle (sorry!).
