Currently, announcements (from the Zulip Notification Bot) of new streams go in #general and announcements of new users go into a private stream called "core team".

I was thinking, we could consolidate them into #general.

@Oliver Bertuch you're thinking we should consolidate them too but maybe have a different name? Announcements?

Ok. I renamed this topic. Let's focus on what the bot is announcing: new users and streams.

We could simply disable this.

I see. I found it nice to know someone is joining the channel. Is this a different notification? Like a user subscribed to some stream?

I'm not very interested in learning about a new user itself, but seeing if and when people subscribe to streams they are interested in

What about announcements from the bot of new streams? Disable them? Put them in #community too?

IMHO depends a bit on whether we want people to create their own streams

I sort of hate to say this but I think admins should create the streams. Otherwise I fear clutter.

Uh don't hate yourself. I think so, too. It worked well in Slack and I don't see a need for 1000 streams. It went pretty well with a single one so far. it will be good to have some more specialized ones for working groups etc
