If you're interested in joining, let us know!
Hi Oliver, I'm interested (as always).
Absolutely! :whale:
Hi Container Guys! From UiT/DataverseNO, there will be at least 3 participants at the K8s Workshop the day before DCM26. I'll send you the names by email.
dumb, dumb question: this is a "satellite meeting" on 12 may, not a pre-pre-workshop on 11 may?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
I haven't heard of anything on Monday, May 11th. It'll probably be a travel day (or recover from jetlag day).
Looking at I'd say it's May 12th.
At least I'm not going to arrive earlier than the evening of May 11th, so it better be May 12th or we'd need an all night session.
@Oliver Bertuch Do you think it would be possible to join online?
I don't know what options the organizers will provide. As there is no remote participation option for the conference, I lean towards a No. Also, looking at the experience from last year, doing this as a hybrid event may be an unsatisfying experience for remotees.
Hey all. I really think it will be possible for folks to join all of the May 12 working group meetings online. I think that's why they're being called satellite meetings.
Like you wrote Oliver, I'm less sure how that'll work
Cheers @Oliver Bertuch and @Julian Gautier for your responses. I am not quite sure what exactly is planned for the workshop! I am rather more interested in following the discussions to understand the inner workings of Dataverse and the challenges it poses in k8s environment rather than any concerte hands-on sessions! I will follow the event page and if it is indeed possible to join online, I would be very happy to do so!!
@Mahendra Paipuri meanwhile, you're welcome to join the monthly Containerization working group meeting. Please see https://ct.gdcc.io and #containers > meetings.
You're also welcome to ask Kubernetes questions in #containers, either in a new topic or an existing one (such as #containers > k8s status).
@Mahendra Paipuri wait, you joined last time and started the #containers > k8s helm chart topic, right? Sorry, I forgot! Should we talk more in the helm chart topic?
Hello @Philip Durbin 馃殌 Yes, I joined the Feb's meeting!! I posted here as this workshop is interesting to me. But I cannot go to the conference so I asked if it is possible to join online!!
Well, to be honest, I'm a little confused. @Oliver Bertuch the k8s workshop is different than the in-person Containerization working group meeting we're planning to have, right? The latter should be hybrid (see ), but I'm not sure about the k8s workshop.
Dear all, I've setup a small form to make sure everybody knows the deal and can prepare. Also, without registering, BSC will not let you in. Thanks!

So far I have 7 registrations... @Philip Durbin 馃殌 @Don Sizemore if you're interested (or your colleagues) please, let them now! Registration closes by tomorrow (my) morning.
My kingdom for a single track conference!
Ha! But maybe @Steven Winship or @Leo Andreev are interested?
(@Philip Durbin 馃殌 the days of Dataverse being a small conference are over, I suppose... For better or worth...)
I'll join the K8s Workshop, at least as logistics member :D
@Felipe G贸mez-Cort茅s do you mind adding yourself here? https://cryptpad.fr/form/#/2/form/view/I-yOr9KTml3N4k2EzOGwnYREp6yrDW9-e2WnW6beB74/
As you work for BSC, I suspect I don't need to tell Maria about you?
Folks the final list has been sent. You need to take it up with the organizers if you still want to join... Security is tight at BSC!
I missed this registration message!
Regarding the workshop:
:alert: Last call for signing up! :alert:
As the organizers extended the deadline for all the satellite meetings to submit their list of attendees, I opened the signup form for the workshop again until Thursday, 2026-05-07, EoB AoE. If you didn't have a chance so far and think about participating, here's your chance:

- If yes, is it okay to follow this guide: https://k8s-docs.gdcc.io/en/v4.20/day1/index.html as preparation?
I'm pretty sure the above is quite old but @Oliver Bertuch can confirm.
Alright, you've talked me into it. I'll join this one too : ) Already have a cluster running at Germany's finest infrastructure provider, Hetzner.
@Thomas van Erven who had the power to talk you into this? :astonished: Please register now, thanks. Also, glad to see some experienced folks, they can give people a hand :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Crap, form closed. My apologies for my sloth heritage. Any way you can briefly open it?
Just because you asked nicely - and I already put down your name so BSC security doesn't send you away
Done. https://cryptpad.fr/form/#/2/form/view/I-yOr9KTml3N4k2EzOGwnYREp6yrDW9-e2WnW6beB74/
You need 256 GB of free disk space? : o )
Submitted.
Guessing the supercomputing centre has decent bandwidth - worst case, I'll rsync some stuff off to a VM. You shall have your pound of storage.
We'll see about how much the WiFi AP can give us of that bandwidth...
If not, surely there's a cable one can 'acquire' temporarily.
I wouldn't bet on that. Their security is tight. Something like that wouldn't even be easy here, where security is not as tight.
Good to know, then I shall come prepared (meaning synced in advance).
You might be fine with less than 256G. I just wanted to make sure we don't run into any such nasty problems which are really hard to fix onsite. (CPU, RAM, diskspace)
Sensible. Worst case, I'll pop over to my cluster for doing stuff. It will have such resources.
Oh my goodness, I didn't realize there was a separate sign-up for the workshop and I see I'm two hours too late! Any chance I can sneak in? I feel so silly.
I don't know. @Max Kadel I'll ask the BSC organizers if they can still manage to add you to the list they send (sent?) to security.
Thanks @Oliver Bertuch - sorry I didn't realize earlier.
Are you registered for any of the other activities that day? That might improve chances they'll agree, as security will already have seen you on their list... :see_no_evil:
@Oliver Bertuch - no, I'm registered for the overall conference, starting on Wednesday, but missed that the Tuesday activities needed separate registration.
Welp, we'll see what they say.
I haven't heard back yet :grimacing:
Eep, ok, thank you!
Sounds like a :no_signal:
Unfortunately we have already sent the lists to security early this morning. Sorry about that.
Here's the repo Oliver is showing: https://github.com/gdcc/dcm2026-k8s-workshop
@Oliver Bertuch if it helps, I created https://github.com/gdcc/dcm2026-k8s-workshop/pull/2 based on what @Thomas van Erven showed me (thanks!) in minikube.
