In preparation to the kickoff I also added a page for the working group. https://dc.wgs.gdcc.io/ (Basically a fork & edit & tweak of swc.wgs.gdcc.io, thx @Ana Trisovic)

Nice! I'm still thinking about "DC"... so far we've been calling it the Containerization Working Group or CWG.
"wgs" stands for working groups?
I recently created a page here: https://dataverse.org/working-groups

Yes. As it has been used before, I sticked with the pattern.

I used the name of the draft proposal. Dataverse Containerization seems like a clear message what this is about.
Yeah, naming is hard. What about cwg.dataverse.org?
I do like the idea to have gdcc.io as part of the URL to make this more attached to the GDCC. And I'd rather not see 100 different flavors of how we create web pages for working groups
http://gdcc.io redirects to https://dataversecommunity.global . Interesting.
And there's a button there called "Working Groups" that takes you to a URL with "interest groups" in it: https://dataversecommunity.global/interest-groups
What a mess.
How active are any of these? Not very, I'd say.
How many "wgs" sites do we have? Just the one? I'm not in love with "wgs".
We should have a list of all the "wgs" sites.

Ok, so the old defunct one and now this new one. Thanks.
Defunct?
Is that working group still working?
Well we didn't meet in quite a while, but I suppose we can reactivate it if needed. It's still a very relevant topic
Oh, absolutely. And we even having funding for it currently. I forget which aim.
And to be fair: in the past the IQSS wasn't really acknowledging working groups of the community. There are various reasons to that, many fingers to point, but however, one outcome of past chaos was that this working group crumbled...
Right. In a retrospective yesterday I talked about working groups. How I really want the new one to succeed and be a model for future working groups.
That's what it needs for the community to feel included and heard
And there were a lot of choices in the recent past that hopefully add to this
How does containers-wg.gdcc.io grab ya?
It if helps, we can do whatever we want. Switching these two domains and websites to sth else probably won't hurt much.
(And I can leave a redirect in place, so old links don't break)
I'm jotting down ideas in the kickoff doc under "possible URLs".
Right, yes, a redirect would be nice if we do switch to a new convention.
If it pleases ya, we can also make it cwg.gdcc.io
I'll add that to the doc!
I'm glad we chose #containers as the name for the stream here in Zulip. Pretty clear.
In general, I'm not a fan of hyphens in domain names, by the way, so I can't believe I suggested containers-wg as the subdomain.
Part of why I don't like "dc" is that it introduces yet another acronym. You have to remember what it means.
Especially since we plan to push images to gdcc on DockerHub (and GitHub) rather than IQSS, it probably does make sense to have the working group website under gdcc.io.
Ok, I might change my vote after I sleep on it (or people think of better options), but I'm voting for the hyphen one. Please see the kickoff doc and how I'm suggesting that we vote with initials.
I touched on the URL for the website in the kickoff meeting. It looks like I'm the only one who voted:
dc.wgs.gdcc.io or dc.wgs.dataverse.org
containers-wg.gdcc.io (PD) or containers-wg.dataverse.org
cwg.gdcc.io or cwg.dataverse.org
ct.gdcc.io or ct.dataverse.org
ct-wg.gdcc.io or ct-wg.dataverse.org
Does that mean we go for the URL with the most votes? :stuck_out_tongue_wink:
Well you did not explain how to vote or that we should
Yeah, I didn't want to spend much time on it during the call. Shall we say voting happens here? I did mention this topic and link to it.
How about we nudge the folks that want to be part of the WG to come here and vote?
Or put it on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting?
Is it enough to link to the Zoom recording?
We could also download the videos and upload them to our Google Drive folder.
We could even upload them to YouTube, mainly to easily navigate to a specific timestamp. (I don't think Zoom supports this.)
Only @Guillermo Portas and I have voted:
dc.wgs.gdcc.io or dc.wgs.dataverse.org
containers-wg.gdcc.io (PD) or containers-wg.dataverse.org
cwg.gdcc.io or cwg.dataverse.org
ct.gdcc.io or ct.dataverse.org (GP)
ct-wg.gdcc.io or ct-wg.dataverse.org
And that was before I explained we will probably favor a gdcc.io domain.
I wonder if it's safe to assume he would vote for ct.gdcc.io.
I just checked with @Guillermo Portas and he's fine with ct.gdcc.io ("more simple"). Fine with me. How about you, @Oliver Bertuch ? We are the only three who voted.

I mean, seeing "CT" just makes me want Pepe's Pizza (but otherwise fine by me).
CT is an oxymoron. Connect or cut? Make up your mind!
I just made a pull request to update the website. Please take a look! https://github.com/gdcc/dc.wgs.gdcc.io/pull/1
Heh. I see a  from @Guillermo Portas
@Oliver Bertuch and @Don Sizemore what do you think?

I like the logo. Very "DLP Tomorrowland"
Sure, the logo is fine BUT with @Oliver Bertuch 's permission, I think we should switch it to this one from https://github.com/gdcc/dataverse-kubernetes/blob/v4.20/docs/img/building-blocks.svg
Screen-Shot-2023-03-27-at-9.47.02-AM.png
You have my permission to mess around. I think I made that one under CC-BY
@Oliver Bertuch great! I'm not planning on adding it to https://github.com/gdcc/dc.wgs.gdcc.io/pull/1 though.
Maybe I'll try to make another PR after that one is merged.
Merged! Thanks @Oliver Bertuch (and for updating DNS).
We have a website!! https://ct.gdcc.io
Source at https://github.com/gdcc/ct.gdcc.io
I just announced the website: https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/3vJWcAK5F7M/m/K0eI8n8uAQAJ
I just hacked around a bit on the website. I hope you all like it. Feedback welcome.
cc767d6 (HEAD -> main, origin/main, origin/HEAD) clarify projects and discussion topics (split)
a405aac don't require <br> in Markdown
a43f7d1 add Zoom link
f8fbce1 run `bundle exec jekyll serve` on Apple silicon (M1/M2)
cb4b062 fix link
e34c884 add recording for last meeting, notes for next
aeb9dc6 fix link

I went ahead and added that building blocks image.
Before we had a website I felt compelled to start topics like "YYYY-MM-DD meeting" to post the agenda or the recording from the last meeting. Now I just update the website. Easy.
Let's create some sort of "what's new" section: https://github.com/gdcc/ct.gdcc.io/issues/4
I created the "what's new" section and a "roadmap" section. Feedback welcome, of course!

Philip Durbin has marked this topic as resolved.
