Topic: โœ” gdcc Docker Hub members

The other day @Oliver Bertuch invited me (my Harvard email) to join the gdcc Docker Hub org. I just created a second Docker Hub account that matches my Harvard email so I could accept the invitation.

We might have a problem, however. We can only have three members of the gdcc org with the free plan. When I try to invite more members I see "Your organization has met the seat limit for Docker Free Team. Upgrade your subscription to add seats and invite more members."

Here's a screenshot for more context:

To prevent having a bus number of one (just Oliver), I'm glad there's another human in the loop now. And for CI I imagine we'll use dataversebot so that's good too. But are we happy with situation? Two humans and a bot? At the very least, we can share around the dataversebot password. Or we could try to find money for a paid plan.

(By the way, we also have an iqss org on Docker Hub that I created long ago. The math is odd but 4 of 3 seats are filled by me, Oliver, dataversebot, and a Red Hat intern (hi Charles!) from the OpenShift work years ago.)

Please note that I applied for the Docker OSS sponsoring.

This would lift this limitation

They came back to me complaining there would be no DockerID associated with my work mail address, so I switched my DockerID to my work address.

I've not heard back from them yet :oh_no:

I hope this will still go through.

Ah, great! Yes, that should fix it. Thanks! :dataverse_man:

Quote from Docker OSS:

As you noted, your project (https://hub.docker.com/u/gdcc) has been approved for the Docker-Sponsored Open Source program - welcome! [...]. I can see that your application has moved from the review stage to the provisioning stage. This means your free team seats and other benefits will be available to you in the upcoming days.ย

You do not need to take any additional steps, and your project is not at risk to impacted by the recent announcement about sunsetting free team seats.

We now are officially "Sponsored OSS" on Docker Hub: https://hub.docker.com/r/gdcc/base

Fantastic! And now we have 7 empty seats (out of 10). That should be plenty. Thanks, @Oliver Bertuch!

Philip Durbin has marked this topic as resolved.

Hahahaha

On March 14, 2023, we emailed you about your Free Team subscription, outlining our intention to sunset that plan. After listening to the concerns of the community, weโ€™ve decided to reverse course, and are no longer sunsetting the Free Team plan.

But good that we are now sponsored OSS anyway
