Topic: index datasets from another installation

We have some researchers that have deposited their data into the Harvard Dataverse. We would like to index those data collections in our dataverse repository. Is that possible? If so, is there any documentation on it? I'm struggling to find the words to locate it with.

Hi! Yes, it's possible. @Sherry Lake asked us to create a harvesting set in Harvard Dataverse for UVa datasets and I believe she harvests them to https://dataverse.lib.virginia.edu/dataverse/uvaharvard

Is that what you're looking for?

Yes, I think so. My understanding of the term "harvesting" usually means extracting data for export. How does this work with data in another repository?

Well, in a Dataverse context harvesting refers specifically to the OAI-PMH protocol.

On the server you define a set: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/6.1/admin/harvestserver.html

On the client you create a client: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/6.1/admin/harvestclients.html

You typically schedule the client to harvest from the server periodically, every week maybe.

Oh, ok. Let me read that and back to you. Thanks
