Does anyone use the 'Make Data Count' feature to determine the number of views? While checking some Dataverse instances I didn't find any instance with MDC statistics visible to users. Is nobody using it?
Our users are interested in the number of views and we are not sure how to collect and publish this information. We could analyse the server logs or the MDC logs or extract the information from a web analytics system (matmo). What would be the best option, which one do you use?

QDR has Make Data Count enabled: https://data.qdr.syr.edu

https://data.qdr.syr.edu/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.5064/F6CE5MRF has the most downloads, according to https://data.qdr.syr.edu/metrics_5ef2ae2be4b/

In the past Harvard Dataverse made pretty heavy use of Google Analytics for views, etc. I'm not sure what we use now. @Julian Gautier probably knows.

Matomo is also a popular choice, as you suggest.

It looks like https://archive.data.jhu.edu also has Make Data Count enabled.

Yeah I use Google Analytics to get counts of dataset views to provide to certain stakeholders and for measuring use of certain Dataverse features. Looking forward to using MDC metics once Harvard Dataverse has that settled
