Hi Dataverse community!

I'm Jake Gibson, the Research Data Curator at UC Berkeley. Our Dataverse instance currently authenticates users through our SSO page. Currently, this limits non-affiliated users from requesting access to any restricted data since we do not have local accounts turned on.

For Davaterse instances that allow users without campus affiliation to request access to restricted data, what are you currently using for authentication? Do you have any particular experiences or words of advice for setting up ORCID and/or Shibboleth integrations?

At Harvard Dataverse we let people create local accounts. We also allow a long list of orgs who auth through InCommon to log in. Members of the Research & Scholarship category.

We used to allow more login options but turned some of them off due to spam.

has there been anyone in the Dataverse community who has directly used CILogon's OIDC endpoint for auth?
